Reviews of the BlackBerry Storm may have been overwhelmingly critical, but that isn’t stopping the people lusting after the all-touch BlackBerry. Not only is Verizon reporting that hundreds of customers lined up outside stores before dawn today, but many stores are sold out.
This afternoon I went over to the Verizon Wireless store near New York City’s Bryant Park to check out the scene. “Are there any Storms left?” the man who walked in the door before me immediately asked the Verizon employee. “We just ran out of the second shipment. The third should be here in a few hours,” she told him. She would not tell me how many phones were in each shipment. I passed a second store on my way home and snapped a shot of the picture to the right.
Along the right side of the Bryant Park store, 30 people stood in line to play with the two display models of the Storm. I waited at the beginning of the line for about 20 minutes to get the people’s first reactions. And those reactions were mixed. One lady proclaimed that she just couldn’t give up her Curve because of the keyboard, while another high-school-aged boy said the phone was “kick ass” and that he has been waiting for the phone ever since it was being called the Thunder.
We want to hear from the first Storm buyers who luckily walked away from a Verizon store today with a Storm in hand. What are your first impressions? Are you learning how to use the keyboard? Any cool tips to share? Let us know in the comments.
